🌿 Earth Skills Revival: 2025 Schedule Overview 

🌀 Wednesday:

ALL DAY:

Arrival & Camp Setup – Take your time settling in, meeting your neighbors, and getting to know the land.

Joy Jar at Coffee Dragons – Share your hopes, inspirations, or intentions to be read anonymously at Opening Circle. Coffee Dragons. 

Souvenir Stamping Station – Wood block art prints available at Coffee Dragons. Bring a tee shirt, canvas bag, journal, or use paper provided.

Volunteer Sign-Up Board – Help with dishwashing, sweeping, raking, bell ringing, firewood, or elder support. Coffee Dragons.

 

 

 

🌀 THURSDAY 

1:00 PM – Opening Circle – Gather together at the Stone Circle to begin our time as a learning village.

(2:00–4:30 PM) AFTERNOON CLASS SESSIONS

  • Ecological Forestry & Ethical Timber Selection – Jamie Byron & Robert Hatcher lead a walk through the forest exploring how to harvest trees for building while promoting forest health. Meet at Coffee Dragons. 

  • Wood Carved Spoons – Learn the meditative process of shaping wooden spoons using hot coals and carving knives. Class by Eden Cornelius. North Crook Instructor Camp. 

  • Lacto-Fermented Pickled Cucumbers – Learn traditional fermentation techniques to create delicious and probiotic cucumber pickles. Class by Robert Roth. Coffee Dragons. 

  • Children’s Programming – Nature-based activities designed to engage young learners through play, exploration, and hands-on crafts. Drop off and pick up at the drum circle. Julie Biedrzycki, Karen Bowman, Josh Emery, and Loren Lavoy in service.

6:00–7:00 PM – Dinner

8:30 PM – Community Fire – Storytelling, music, and gathering around the flames.

  • The Art of Safe Felling – A class of chainsaw safety, hazard assessment, and directional felling techniques. White Pines Forest. Class by Jamie Byron & Robert Hatcher

  • Herbal First Aid – Craft an herbal salve while learning practical plant-based remedies for everyday ailments. Coffee Dragon’s Class space. Class by Colleen Killduff. 

  • Fire Making 102 – Learn natural fuel identification and fire-building techniques for various weather conditions. North Crook Instructor Camp. Class by Eden Cornelius

  • Cordage Council – A space to learn natural cordage making while engaging in meaningful group dialogue. Class at Drum Circle. Class by Chelsea Ihnacik

  • Forging Iron Bottle Openers – Get hands-on with blacksmithing tools to forge your own iron bottle opener. Instructor TBA. Merchant’s Green. Class by Zach Appel.

  • Intro to Lock Picking – Explore the art and ethics of lock picking, including tool-making and hands-on practice. Class at Main Stage. Class by Eric Shipp

  • Homestead Milling – Logs to Lumber – A demonstration of milling logs into lumber using an Alaskan chainsaw mill. White Pines Forest. Class by Jamie Byron & Robert Hatcher

  • Needle Felting: Amanita Mushroom Ornament – Create a whimsical felt mushroom ornament using needle felting techniques. Class at Dining Pavilion. Class by Kypriana Daniels. 

  • Shelter Building Demonstration – Hands-on demonstration of constructing simple, effective shelters from natural or scavenged materials. Meet at Coffee Dragon’s. Class by Marc O’Connor.

  • Djembe Rhythm & Drum – Explore the basics of drumming and group rhythm in this energizing musical class. Class at Drum Circle. Class by Floyd Jones. 

  • Forging Iron Bottle Openers – Get hands-on with blacksmithing tools to forge your own iron bottle opener. Instructor TBA. Merchant’s Green. Class by Zach Appel.

  • Water Procurement – Marc O’Connor presents visual and hands-on methods for identifying, collecting, and purifying water in the wild. Dining Pavilion. 

  • Spring Forage Story Time (Kids) – Kypriana Daniels reads from her Forage! books followed by an engaging foraging game and plant walk for children. Coffee Dragons.

  • Wisteria Egg (Melon) Basket Weaving – A traditional basketry class using invasive vine and folk techniques. North Crook Instructor Camp. Class by Eden Cornelius. 

  • Plant Propagation & Ecology – Learn methods of propagating useful plants and understand their roles in a diverse temperate ecosystem. Coffee Dragons. Class by Bodhi Vasilopoulos 

  • Sweat Camp (Open for Volunteers) – Assist in preparing the sacred sweat lodge space; learn protocol and participate in collective setup. Sweat Lodge Camp. Kurt Griffith and Sweat Lodge team in service. 

  • Making Bone Tools – Tipi Paul guides participants in crafting traditional tools from deer leg bones like awls and gouges.

  • Uncommon Applications for Common Plants – Explore lesser-known uses of everyday plants for healing, art, and ritual. Coffee Dragons. Class by Iris Zimmerman. 

  • Forging Iron Bottle Openers – Get hands-on with blacksmithing tools to forge your own iron bottle opener. Instructor TBA. Merchant’s Green. Class by Zach Appel.

  • Timber Frame Design & Raising – Participate in collaborative frame assembly and share lessons from decades of timber work. Use chisels, slicks, and hand tools to cut timber joinery. White Pines Forest. Class by Jamie Byron & Robert Hatcher.

  • Sweat Lodge Ceremony – The Sweat Lodge Team leads a traditional ceremony for purification, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Sweat Lodge Camp. Kurt Griffith and Sweat Lodge team in service.
